MONEY EATING AWAY OUR VALUES

MONEY EATING AWAY OUR VALUES

A Lady shot herself due to repeated dowry asked by her in-laws”.... “a man killed his brother in a property dispute”... “Jayalalithaa CM of Tamil Nadu convicted in a disproportionate assets case”

News like this have become a part and parcel of our lives .We don’t realise how our values and ethics are fading as we are getting caught in the quagmire of money making. Honesty, truthfulness, self respect have all taken a backseat in this materialistic world.

The worst affected strata is the youth of the country who is trapped in relationships that were established on the foundation of money. They can toil 24*7 for an MNC just because it pays them well without considering how adversely it will affect their  health, social as well as family life. They are enthralled by its dazzle because it seems to fulfil their desires(that grow exponentially day by day) . The only religion today that seems is “money” that everyone is trying to chase irrespective of what kind of work it involves.

Researchers say that 70% of the modern youth suffer from depression despite having all the pleasures in their lives. It is because while collecting stones they have ignored the gems. They have never practiced virtues like truthfulness or honesty. So despite having the most expensive clothes, the best cars and houses they are the worst sufferers . They never tried to introspect and ask their hearts that what makes them happy. They spent years of their life chasing money ,switching jobs and toiling hard and end with despair. Things that were of utmost importance was ignored by them. As it is very well said that “On your death bed it doesn’t matter which post you held in your life as CEO is buried next to a sweeper”.

Money can definitely buy toys but not friends, it can buy expensive clothes occupying your wardrobe but it can’t fill your heart with love & satisfaction. In a nutshell money is a necessity but its not everything.
